Filipino Surnames and Genealogy
Tracing ones ancestors in the Philippines beyond 1849 is difficult to say the least. Before this time there was no official form of family name, with parents and children not commonly sharing any form of second name or surname. Whilst many had two or even three names, these were not consistent between generations. People also changed names quite frequently which makes family lines even harder to trace.
I am in search of a web site or information site that might be able to help me in finding information on my husbands side of the family, I have heard from him and others that all birth certificates and information was destroyed in a fire and I cannot find any site to search without asking for payment. I am in search of the surname SABIDO from Ilocos Norte Philippines. I am not sure if this is the right place to ask for help but I am willing to try. thank you for at least reading my post. and helping if can.
